Open-air art pavilion

Open-air art pavilion
Type: Competition
Location: Sibiu, Romania
Year: 2021
Team: Diana Stanciu, Radu Dragomir
| ABOUT |

The pavilion proposed for the Open Air Art Gallery in Sibiu wants to create a multitude of scenarios during its use. By placing it on the site specified in the theme, we want to highlight the predominant pedestrian circulation path, the gaze being strongly directed by the long side of the pavilion.

Made of modular wooden elements, with a light canvas covering that gives it a weighted dynamism, by the breeze of the wind, the pavilion closes and at the same time opens to the public, along the entire perimeter of the facade. Through the hinged wooden panels, niches are demarcated that can facilitate a certain type of visitor interaction within the pavilion, taking into account the specifics of the exhibition.

During the night, the pavilion closes its facade, leaving open to the small square an illuminated urban showcase, which, depending on the viewing angle, lets the exposed object stand out on the surrounding facades. Thus, an urban painting in motion is highlighted to the passers-by, by superimposing the art object on the architectural object, these succeed in enhancing each other's aesthetic characteristics.
Thanks for watching :)
